Event Description

Daniel "DJ" Schmalz is a hive and swarm capture service extraordinaire specializing in chemical free bee removals and rescues. He strives to educate each and every individual and business he serves on the importance of the North American Honey Bee. Every hive removed is happily relocated to local farms, beekeepers or, in very rare cases, back to nature.

About In.gredients

in.gredients is a micro-grocer committed to zero waste, local food, and community.  More specifically, our guiding principles are:

Zero waste: We average less landfill waste per month than an American averages per day!

Local food: As a hub for quality local products, we champion small farms and producers and promote local, seasonal eating.  Some might say we have farmers market offerings with grocery store hours.

Community: Community gatherings – formal and informal, educational and social – are a regular happening around here.  Plus, we love to partner with and support like-minded businesses and organizations that are also committed to a greener, more just world.

About Slow Food Austin

Slow Food Austin is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization that reconnects people with the food they eat. One of more than 200 chapters across 150 countries, Slow Food Austin motivates people to make responsible choices within our food system through educational initiatives, social activities, fundraising events and community volunteer projects that inspire respect for where food comes from and awakens true pleasure in eating.

About Slow Sessions

Slow Sessions are educational events that are always free and open to the public. The goal is twofold: (1) to provide opportunities for Austinites to learn more about their food and where it comes from (2) to support local businesses whose values align with the Slow Food mission of good, clean and fair food for all.
